The footprint is designed to be 5cm short all the way around.

The reason for this is to ensure water is not caught by the footprint and trapped between the groundsheet and the tent.

If you pitch the footprint and then place the tent groundsheet evenly around, to ensure no side sticks out this will ensure nothing gets between the two layers.
