If you are thinking about having a stove in your tent then we’d say choose a tent with a pre-fitted stove hole.
(Don’t worry if you have a tent already without one, you can still fit a stove - either by retrofitting a stove flap or attaching a flashing kit direct to canvas)
When you have chosen the stove you like you’ll need a few things to use the stove safely:
- Flashing Kit – this is essential to fit the stove in the tent. The silicone kit will protect your canvas from the heat of the flue. You need this even when you have the stove mate flap fitted.
- Heat Mat – the stove needs to stand on something heatproof to protect the base of the tent. Make sure you have a ‘hearth’ area in front of the stove too – this is to catch any ash/ember that might fall.
- Thermometer/Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Always useful bits of kit to make sure everything is safe
- Kiln Dried Wood – all our stoves are wood burners only.
