We don't recommend extended pitching during the winter months. Canvas Bell Tents are created for holiday camping, so leaving pitched for longer durations will increase the risk of mould forming on the canvas. Holiday camping is considered to be a duration between one day and up to 4 weeks. However, we do have customers who’ll pitch for longer durations over a summer season. We always recommend keeping an eye on the tent during extended pitching. Our canvas tents can be used for holidays in all four seasons, but this describes holiday use as being up to four weeks camp at a time rather than permanent pitching.
If you choose to pitch your Bell Tent for periods longer than a typical camping trip it’s important to practice good canvas care. The time a canvas tent can remain pitched before mould starts will vary from season to season depending on the weather conditions – so if you choose to leave a tent pitched beyond normal holiday periods it’s important to check your tent regularly and monitor conditions for mould forming on your tents canvas. Always dry your tent canvas thoroughly indoors after camping during winter months or at any time if taking down during rainfall or wet. Drying is essential before being packed away and always store in a dry place.
All Bell tents are designed with leisure camping in mind – so aren’t really suited to be left up all the time particularly in Winter months.
